Freelance (c3 days per week)

SQUAD SOCIAL is the platform for queer people to connect based on common interests, both online and offline. We are reinventing what it means to be a “queer app” and it’s our mission to improve the mental health and wellbeing of queer people by connecting them to communities of like-minded people.
The online experience for queer people can be pretty tough and we believe that a human touch makes all the difference in making people feel a sense of belonging.
We are looking for ambitious, creative and curious community manager to drive engagement on the Squad Social app, building a tribe of Squaddies who belong.
This role involves:
Listening, engaging and moderating our online communities.
Being proactive and developing relationships with our Squaddies, understanding what’s important to them and supporting them.
Developing and implementing strategies to increase engagement and user-generated content.
Planning and developing content on our app, social media and blog.
Building and managing a network of contributors, ensuring that we have a range of diverse voices representing the diversity of our community.
Growing our Ambassador programme, turning users into advocates.
Helping the team to identify, engage and on-board content partners - other queer run community and social groups that want to grow and engage their communities.
Developing tools and strategies to share with our partners to help them improve engagement and moderate their communities well.
Initiating and organising events to provide our Squaddies with offline experiences that bring them together in a safe and fun way.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the next generation of queer apps - beyond hook-ups and into real connections. We’re a start-up which means we’re passionate about measuring, learning and adapting our style to get the best results we can.
This role would suit candidates with:
Previous community management experience either in a membership organisation, a consumer brand or a social media role.
Strong connections in the queer community in the UK, with universities, social clubs and societies an added advantage.
Excellent communication skills, demonstrated through prior content creation and writing.
A desire for flexible working patterns organised around results rather than just a 9-5 culture.
To apply, please send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org and a short cover letter telling us why you’re the perfect fit to join the Squad team!
